Some things have more than one life. This is now true for chewing gum pieces stuck on the payments, roads and squares, indeed everywhere where people spit them out. The number of secretions reports the number of people, as it is known that at least one third of the population enjoys this sweet rubber. A graphic designer Miroslav Cuković, who has been living in Maribor for four years and regularly exhibits his works in Slovenia and abroad, has seen the chewed gums as material for his art. He will use this miniature but often irritating trash in an out-of-gallery, site-specific work. He will paint the gums stuck to the ground with special paint used for road markings, which contains small crystals so that it glows at night. Glowing spots will shine on selected parts of Maribor’s town centre. And a poetic eye will be able to recognise in them imaginary and random stars galaxies.
