ALMOST SPRING TIME

The Exhibition “Skoraj pomlad / Almost Spring, 100 Years of Slovenian Art”, with selected art works of Slovenian visual arts during the years 1912-2012 from public and private art collections, wiil cover both symbolically and actually the Slovenian space from the Piran, Novo Mesto, Ajdovščina, to Slovenj Gradec, Maribor, and Murska Sobota. The exhibition offers a presentation of the main players of Slovenian visual arts sceene of the 20th and 21st centuries. Many attractive and high end visual artists will be covered by the impressionistic work of Richard Jakopič, Matija Jama, Ivan Grohar, and Matej Sternen, as well as that of the other giants of Slovenian art in the 20th century, from Zoran Mušič, Gabriel Stupica, Marijo Pregelj, to Slavko Tihec, Gustav Gnamuš, and Janez Bernik, and last but not least the most important artists of the younger generation entering the 21st century. Along with the top works of art, the exhibition will also provide an opportunity for the promotion of all participating institutions because it will direct visitors to the European Cultural Capital 2012 Maribor at many Slovenian museums worth visiting and getting to know. A presentation of the Slovenian art in the 20th and 21st centuries may be a very notable exhibition which will allow diverse ECOC audiences excellent insight into the power of Slovenian creativity.
