The central Slovene meeting will host authors and publishers of youth literature. The working meetings will largely focus on numerous issues regarding literature and publishing. Main topics will include educational programmes, the relationship between educational and aesthetic aspects of children’s prose, picture book illustrations, the dawn of the multimedia era and the new role of the book in correlation with other forms of media. Eye of the Word will feature lectures, thematic days and expert discussions dealing with topical issues and different experiences. The highlight of the meeting will be the award ceremony for the večernica award – a prestigious award for the best piece of youth literature in 2012. Eye of the Word is undoubtedly on course to become the central Slovene literary event.

The scientific monograph Nagrajene pisave. Opusi po letu 1991 nagrajenih slovenskih mladinskih pripovednikov (Awarded Writings. The Opera of Awarded Slovene Young Adult Authors after 1991) chronicles the works of contemporary Slovene authors of young adult literature, awarded with at least one important prize or award within the genre. The awards or prizes in question entail the following acknowledgments awarded since 1991: the Levstik Award, the večernica prize, the desetnica prize, the Kristina Brenkova award (award for original Slovene picture book), the Zlata Hruška (Golden Pear) award and the Moja najljubša knjiga (My Favourite Book) prize.
The introduction to the monograph features and chronicles all prizes and awards, their significance and aim as well as a list of nominated authors, followed by a chapter on young adult literature and its theoretical aspects. The chapter focuses on the modern theoretical approach to prosaic literary genres and entails a carefully selected typology of literary types and genres within the general framework of literary theory with a special emphasis on terminological standardisation. The central part of the monograph is dedicated to contemporary authors who have received awards for best original Slovene young adult literature in the past twenty years (1991 – 2011): Dušan Dim, Mate Dolenc, Nina Mav Hrovat, Igor Karlovšek, Neli Kodrič Filipič, Majda Koren, Polonca Kovač, Kajetan Kovič, Feri Lainšček, Svetlana Makarovič, Marijana Moškrič, Desa Muck, Bogdan Novak, Nejka Omahen, Mojca Osojnik, Andreja Peklar, Matjaž Pikalo, Lila Prap, Slavko Pregl, Andrej Rozman Roza, Primož Suhodolčan, Peter Svetina, Bina Štampe Žmavc, Anja Štefan, Irena Velikonja, Janja Vidmar and Dim Zupan.
The monograph deals with all authors equally in order to ensure a comprehensive and organised approach to the subject matter. The authors are listed alphabetically, with each entry featuring the following categories:
- awards and prizes,
- bibliography of the author, with emphasis on the genre of young adult literature,
- detailed specification of the listed work in the field of young adult literature and notes on the author’s oeuvre within the genre,
- conclusion, featuring the main characteristics of the author’s style and manner.
The last chapter features an overview of the genre with main characteristics of Slovene young adult literature and predominant trends which can be seen from the works of the listed authors.
