Broken concords – music workshop (composition, sequencing, and production of electronic music)
INTRODUCTION – a presentation of basic construction elements of electronic music and its composition (the relation between sonic and compositional structure of songs – low, middle, and high frequencies in intro, core, bridge, passages, accumulations, drops, outro; how and what must electronic music include to properly work on the dance floor or on stage, etc.).
CORE – practical work on composition, sequencing, production of an electronic song (how and with what should one start the composition, how to make the rhythm sound professional – multi-layering; hardware and software production of bass lines; programming rhythms and melodies with MIDI, using loops, breaking them apart to samples, and composing with them; MIDI automation and the use of controllers; exporting and mastering; a presentation on the ways of use of dynamic processors, and creative use of effects – compressor, EQ, reverb, delay, modulation effects, manglers, filters, lfo, etc.).
CONCLUSION – Ableton Live jam session on sample controllers, synthesizers, effects, drum machine, and groove box with material produced at workshops, samples from fieldwork, and with various rhythmical and melodic loops.
