Banjšice lies in the heart of the Banjšice plateau at the height of 700 meters above the sea level. The inhabitants are primarily engaged in cattle breeding and the cultivation of land. Banjšice is situated on a plateau from where you can enjoy a wonderful view on the Julian Alps, and from Sleme you can even see the sea.
In addition to the beautiful nature and the magnificent views offered Banjšice invites you to participate in the month of Spetember in the traditional friendly cycling ride. You can decide to make one-day trips across the near peaks of the Banjšice plateau: Zagorelec, Vetrnik, Sleme in Debeli grič (Zaškol). All the above mentioned peaks can also be reached in the month of October when there is the traditional march across the Banjšice plateau with its route suitable for all kinds of recreative marchers. You can also taste the traditional country dishes together with a cup of cumin tea or cumin coffee.
Similarly as all the other localities of the plateau Banjšice has a rich history. Part of this history has been preserved in the collection of the equipment and weapons from the Great War collected scrupulously by Zdenko Mužič. In the village unique products of the cottage industry may be found. Objects of particular interest are pads which were once used by women to help them carrying the baskets which they put on their heads.
The last Sunday in the month of August you are most kindly invited to join us at the traditional Harvest Festival. The procession representing modern and old-time harvesting, carts arriving from all the neighbouring villages and old usages staged on them, country games, the culinary show of household bakery prepared by members of the Countrywomen working group, are good reasons for coming to the Festival to a close view of it. After a hard day´s work you will find new energy by tasting the delicious home-prepared dishes at the Žbogar inn. Banjšice is therefore a locality where you will allways be greeted by friendly and pleasant local people, by a nice word, but first of all by an untouched and genuine nature and by fresh air.
