Ligi is the name of the attractive mascot of the Coal Mining Museum of Slovenia and originates from a diminutive name for lignite, which was extracted from the Velenje mine. “Ligi’s Stage” is located in the extended cave part of the mine, 180 metres below the surface in a typical coalmining environment. The stage is especially adapted to circumstances of the space. It is made from wood used to make props supporting the mine. It is intended for various cultural events including anything from theatre and dance shows to classical, modern and popular music concerts.
Concert by notorious slovene music group Laibach, KOHLE IST BROT, INDUSTRIAL SUITE will take plase almost 200 m underground on the Ligi stage in the Velenje mine.
