A three day event with an exhibition of embroidery, creative embroidery workshops and demonstration of making embroideries more contemporary by including creative trends in painting will connect the ethnological and craftsman knowledge of the people from Velenje, Slovenia and Europe through intercultural and intergenerational exchange of traditions, old, new and innovative knowledge. Masterpieces of cottage industry and artisanship, among which embroidery can also be classified, are most definitely one of the precious recognizable signs of human creativity and a reflection of the cultural image – what was once still exists today. The event aims to preserve the cultural heritage of embroidery, to exchange different embroidery techniques and to modernise the embroidery and transfer it to the environment, especially to younger generations who could see their creativity coming alive with a help of a sewing needle and thread.
