The Slovenian Octet (Slovenski oktet), which celebrates the 60th anniversary of its foundation this year, started off as a vocal ensemble which had made it its mission to spread Slovenian folk songs among Slovenians living abroad, but it soon surpassed its original mission and became Slovenia's most popular chamber vocal ensemble.
To date, the Slovenian Octet has given over 5,000 solo concerts around the world and collaborated with such distinguished musicians as the world renowned Swedish tenor Nicolai Gedda.
