The municipal palace was built in 1950 according to the preliminary drawings by the architect Vinko Glanz. The building is a typical example of postwar architecture. Its façade is enriched with the sculptures of partisans and revolutionary motifs. These works of art were done by the sculptor Boris Kalin. On the first floor, in the so called Green Hall, the frescoes, created by the painter Slavko Pengov, show scenes from the history of the Primorska Region.
