(Solkan–Prevalo–Sveta gora–Vodice (monument)–Preški vrh–Prevalo)
Would you like to feel how it was to be a soldier in World War I? Then start this almost ten-kilometer trail at the cross beside the road between Prevalo and Sveta gora. After sixty meters, enter the first tunnel and make your way through the trench. Before the marked 260-meter-long shaft, put on your helmet with its lamp.
After a short way, ascend from the shaft with the help of a steel rope to reach an open space on the north wall of Mount Skalnica (545 m). Ascend to the ridge past the former military installations and there is only a short walk left to the peak. From here there is a wonderful view of Nova Gorica, the Solkan Bridge, and the Soča River. A kilometer descending on a wide dirt road to the Preški vrh Saddle follows, and possibly a visit to the monument in Vodice. From Preški vrh, turn right toward Plave, go left down the gently sloping trail to the bend in the road below Prevalo, and from there on the asphalt to the starting point.
Warning: the trail is not suitable for small children.
