The Mt. Šmarna gora run, which has in the recent years become an internationally recognised sporting event, consists of a competition for the Slovenian Mountain Running Cup and an international running competition.
In 2001 it was granted the IAAF Permit as a competition under the auspices of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).
