Peca Mountain is one of Slovenia's most beautiful mountain spots. It is a three hour walk to the cottage on Little Peca (Mali Peci) (1665 m), and another one hour to the top. Near the cottage, in an abandoned tunnel leading to a well kept cave, is a statue of King Matjaž (the work of Marjan Keršič). Nearby excursion points in the surrounding hills: Štalekarjev vrh (792 m), Volinjak, Jankovec, Veliki vrh, Gorna, Humanov vrh. You can visit the church of St. Leonard at Plat (1020 m), a late Gothic building, dating from the second half of the 15th century, with its picture adorned ceiling and Baroque fittings. An iron chain bounds the perimeter of the church, which as legend would have it, was once gold. A forest road makes its way high up on Peca and the other mentioned hills.
