The Slovenian tourism representative office has been operating in the Austrian market independently since 1998. The primary task of the representative office is communicating Slovenia’s tourist services in the Austrian market. An important area is contact with the media in the form of study trips for journalists and organising independent press conferences. An equally important area is contact with tour operators, which the office showcases annually in the independent brochure Potovanja v Slovenijo [Travel to Slovenia]. The office links up with partners in the commercial Slovenian tourist sector, and works with them to prepare joint projects such as workshops for tour operators, appearances in shopping centres, Slovenian evenings and joint advertising campaigns.
The office provides an information function both for individual clients and companies through talks, e-mail, appearances at specialised tourism fairs, at travel agency in-house fairs and lectures for travel agency counter staff.
The office cooperates actively with the Corps Touristique, the society of tourism representative offices covering the Austrian tourist market, with the Austrian Tourist Board (Oesterreich Werbung) and other institutions covering tourism in Austria.
Austrian guests coming to Slovenia seek out for the most part the health resorts, the Slovenian coast, wine and food, cities and events as well as active holidays such as cycling, hiking and golf. Another task of this office is, alongside existing guest groups, to draw in new target groups on the basis of attractive products.
