Heiko Beck is a self-employed artist who organizes happenings and installations which separate us from our routine lives and encourage us to think and interact. He works with very simple and direct statements of thought and emotions that are familiar to everyone, but which are never said out loud. Sincerity is the most important element in his work, serving as the foundation for trust, the cornerstone of our willingness to help, unity and mutual love. His work is closely connected to the basic, yet specific, situation of a certain area and the people residing there. He generally works spontaneously to create an authentic statement or intervention in a certain public area. He must become closely connected to a town and the local area, which he achieves by working in an open studio that the public can see and where he has enough time and space to perceive the thoughts, emotions, fears, and worries of the locals.
Through the many actions and events he creates (installation, workshops, products) he becomes an omnipresent public figure of a city, a sort of local eccentric artist that can make people open up and trust a stranger, art, or their repressed emotions for at least a brief period.
You can enter the studio as you see the light inside or if ports are open. The studio is also open every thursday from 2 p.m. untill 10 p.m. (except for 21. 6., 2. 8., 30. 8., 27. 9., 1. 11., 29. 11.).
