The collaboration titled “Maribor <eDu> Graz“, which started out in 2012, serves as a platform for negotiating the possibilities of present-day art education and art training. Lack of artistic education and study programmes in university cities Maribor and Graz is set into the focus of the project Maribor EDU Graz. It investigates what has already been considered and written in both cities in their decades-long respective efforts. And, first and foremost, fresh input from theory and practice is to be used. Interesting international examples of artistic knowledge transfer about decentralized self-organized training models will be gathered and practical work with artists on site will immediately impact on both cities.
An open transnational process has been triggered off wherein collaborative action leads to the activation of artistic and critical forces. The project thematizes the social environment where the knowledge transfer takes place, life in public space, the city as a foil for acts of art.
The first part of the exhibition hosted by Rotor will present artists connected to Maribor, Slovenia and Graz, Austria. The exhibition opening will be on 29.6.2012 at 18:00 in Rotor -the association for contemporary art. Volksgartenstrasse 6a, Graz.
The project is supported by the Municipality of Graz.
