Maribor – Graz, 100 years – 100 days

A cross-border time journey in the context of Maribor 2012 European Cultural Capital

Based on the personal life stories of elderly people from Maribor and Graz, contemporary witnesses are to portray their individual impressions about the development of both cities since Austria and Slovenia were partitioned in 1919 as a result of the St Germain Treaty. Since Slovenia’s entry into the European Union in 2004 ties between the two municipalities are becoming more and more closer. The historical bilateral developments in the two neighboring cities due to the significant events of world history are to be compared with personal individual experiences of those affected. The various interrelationships between Graz and Maribor are to be highlighted and publicized by means of posters in public space, in order that both communities are given the opportunity to understand these relationships more closely in the light of history.
Every day will be dedicated to one year of history, which will be presented both in Maribor and Graz.

Presentation venues in Graz are:
1. City Hall Graz (Eingangsbereich Hauptplatz 1, 8010 Graz)
2. Shopping Mall Citypark Graz (Lazarettgürtel 55, 8020 Graz)
3. Main train station Graz (Europaplatz 4, 8020 Graz)

Presentation venues in Maribor are different locations in public space.
Together with first poster presentation on 22 July 2012, also Slovene-German web page: www.maribor-graz.eu will be established. The web page will present daily information from 1912 to 2012. Presentations will be available both in public spaces and mentioned web page.
