Princesses 2012-2013 (Exhibition)

Princesses 2012-13 is a photographic installation which deals with the field of modern portraiture and includes it in the theme of modern photgraphy in connection with the research and reflection on identity, the everyday, popculture, migration and the phenomenon of globalisation. It searches out content and visual possibilities , the very definition of modern portraiture and the strategies and limitations that define the modern artistic portrait. The photographic project Princesses 2012-13 (work in progress) is a series of specific anonymous women and girls that the artist has usually come across on the street. The series of portraits will be composed in 2012 and will be geographically limited to the towns of Maribor and Vienna. Vienna, a city of almost two milllion inhabitants, 43% of whom are immigrants, is reflective of the increasingly multicultural population of Central Europe. The project explores questions of the identity and success of migration, the so-called first, second and third generations of the children of immigrants.
