The legendary Slovenian street theater company will present its work with a different approach to usual: as a tribute to the playful dialogue with the grand author of epic and dialect theaters, Bertolt Brecht. The content of the play Mother Courage is adapted to the eponymous work by Brecht, but the story will be moved into the political present: in our country, growing social differences also flare into an armed conflict. The dark symbolism of war is rather close to our reality. In the play, average (unprivileged) people suddenly realize that they can experience catharsis through the virtual torture of those they hold responsible.
The new spectacle of The Ana Monto Theater will be performed by more than twenty actors and with strong visual effects: unusual machines, beautiful costumes and impressive music. Part of the play will be localized, as most of the performers will be local volunteers trained in a workshop lasting several days. The performance will be staged by various Slovenian art groups that are active in street performance: The Ana Munro Theater, Ljud Cultural Arts Center, The Beast, Bimbo Theater, Teatro Papelito, Fičo Ballet, and others.
