Kos Manor is one of four so-called "iron foundry castles" built in the area during the 16th and early 17th centuries by owners of local ironmaking plants in Sava, Plavž, Murova and Javornik. Iron foundry mansion in Murova was built in 1521 and in historical sources it is mentioned as "old Bela peč Castle«. It had been rebuilt for several times and had had several owners. In the beginning of the 19th century it became the ownership of merchant Pavel Kos, and it has been named after him. Later it was acquired by the Ruard family, from whom it passed into the hands of the Carniolan Industrial Company. Then it housed public school for 30 years. During the Second World War it was used as a transfer prison by the Germans. Today the Manor is managed by Gornjesavski muzej, there are premises for occasional exhibitions and exhibitions about recent history, and a wedding hall on the second floor. On the ground floor visitors can see also a reconstructed prison cell.
