CHURCH OF ST. JUST – The principal cultural-historic monument in Črni Vrh is the aforementioned church of St. Just. Throughout the centuries, this building has been subjected to many reconstructions and refurbishments, and for this reason it has preserved elements of various architectural styles. During the assault of the Partisan 9th Corps on the pro-Nazi militia’s outposts on 1 September 1944, Črni vrh was fairly devastated. Several houses were burnt down and even the church was not spared; its ceiling collapsed and its interior decoration was left in ruins. During the first decade after World War II, the church was renovated, enlarged, and newly equipped. Its presbytery still houses the large baroque altar of St. Just from the end of the 17th century, whereas a less ancient statue of this saint stems from the end of 19th century. In the graveyard by the church sits the Chapel of the Holy Cross, built by the end of the century in a Neo-Gothic style.
