The Modern Dance Front@ organized by the Flota Institute is the main event of the Dance Explorations Beyond Front@ network in which partner organizations from various European countries take part. The Beyond Front@ exploration of dance strives to establish permanent contact between dancers, choreographers, other artists, directors, critics, theorists, and the Central European audience. It largely centers on winning new viewers by giving the public access to high-quality artistic work outside established cultural centers. The network enables artists to exchange experience through cooperation with the local inhabitants and trans-regional connections. The goal of the Front@ modern dance is to establish Murska Sobota, thanks to its location, as a meeting point of cultures and audiences from the neighboring countries (Austria, Croatia, Hungary, and Slovenia).
The goal of the festival is to create a hub of modern dance artists in Central Europe. The Front@ is divided into three basic programs: the main program comprising excellent dance performances, projections, and exhibitions; the accompanying program, which stages the events in public town spaces and enables young generations of dancers to perform; and an educational program with dance workshops and presentations of educational institutions of modern dance.
