Between September 16th and 21st, 2012, Slovenia will host a delegation of internationally acclaimed Chinese writers. The delegation will be hosted by the Slovene Writers Association, whose members paid an international visit to China in 2010.
In 2010, the delegation of Slovene writers presented Slovene literature and established new ties with their Chinese counterparts, as the Chinese Writers Association hosted their guests on a very high level. In collaboration with Maribor 2012 – European Capital of Culture, the Slovene Writers Association is pleased to return the favour by organising a varied, interesting and prestigious itinerary, which includes numerous literary readings, offers ample opportunities for a lively intercultural dialogue and the intertwining of literary traditions, as well as an opportunity to strengthen economic relations.
Slovenia will host the following Chinese authors:
Liu Jianwei – Head of the delegation, member of the presidium of the Chinese Writers Association and director of the Chinese Film Association. Jianwei received classical education, is known as a modern author and is a prolific screenwriter. He is an internationally renowned author and the recipient of numerous awards, including the Mao Dun Literature Prize for his novel Heroic Age.
Sun Huifen – the author has been active since 1982 and is the recipient of the Lu Xun Literature Prize for her novel Two Women from Horse Resting Villa. She is the current vice president of the Writers Association of Liaoning Province.
Guo Wenbin – is the author of sci-fi novels and numerous essays and the editor of the literary newspaper Yellow River Literature. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Xe Lun Literature Prize for his work Best Wishes for Good Fortune.
Wu Qijie – is a prose writer and novelist, whose work has brought him numerous high-profile awards, including the Novella Literature Prize, the Chinese Literature Award and the Zheijang Literature Prize for outstanding achievements.
Mei Zhuo – is a poet and novelist from Tibet, whose works deal with the issue of ethnic minorities. Her works have been included in numerous anthologies. She is also a member of the Chinese Writers Association National Committee.
