All the peaks surrounding the Vipava Valley offer magnificent far reaching views, hich is already the reason why they are worth visiting.
TO THE MOUNT ČAVEN, 1,242m
The trail described leads from the town of Ajdovščina, through the Lokavec village. We leave the car at the church and turn left at the small chapel (signpost) through the village. We follow the forest road, cross the meadows and ascend the steep slope. When we leave the forest behind, we come to the most picturesque part of the route with magnificent views and botanical richness. Soon, we reach a meadow in front of the mountain hut Antona Bavčerja na Čavnu, 1,242m above sea level. We continue to the panoramic peak of Mount Kucelj (1,237m). We return across Mount Mala Gora (a mountain refuge) and make a steep descend to the trail at the middle of the Mount Čaven. After a half-hour walk, we turn right towards the starting point at Lokavec village. The trail is well-trodden and marked.
