Migrants are a part of a complex global happening. For centuries have people been searching for better places and better lives for themselves and their families. The reasons for this vary. Economic, politic and personal.
With my exhibition I represent individuals on their journey into a better, safer life. I have met with them in last year’s spring in the north of Africa, in Tunisia, when they ran out of conflicted Libya. Because of the more and more wrathful fights in Libya, almost a million of sub-Saharan Africans and Asians, migrant workers, took refuge in Tunisia. Before, most of them were looking for work or waiting for smugglers, which would send them over the hazardous Mediterranean sea for a lot of money to the shores of Malta or Italy. I also met the migrants on Malta, the first larger island where, on their way from Africa, overfilled boats land.
