Revivas- the voluntary association for revival and promotion of the village Škale wishes to restore the recognisability this place once had, at the same time it recalls and reminds that coal mining in the Šaleška Valley has its bright and dark sides. The Coal mining Museum in Velenje will in 2012 prepare an exhibition of photographs, paintings and documents on the slow disappearance of the village and other smaller places in the Šaleška Valley in the 20th century. Here the ground and the settlements have sunk due to the excavation of coal. Beside examples from the local environment we will also present places from around Europe that experienced and are still experiencing a similar destiny. The exhibition will be accompanied by a two-day international gathering of townspeople of degraded areas and organizations that deal with collecting the materials connected to the places which were almost lost.
Opening Hours: Tuesday-Sunday: 8:30-17:00; first Trusdays of the month: 11:30-19:30
