The exhibition Comics, Manga & Co., designed by the Goethe-Institut in collaboration with Berlin-based curator Matthias Schneider, presents two generations of comic artists from Germany: the comic avant-garde that paved the way for a new comic culture and the younger generation, whose art reflects the tendencies of the avant-garde. The exhibition includes works by thirteen comic artists with different styles who draw their inspiration from surrealistic, historic and fictional sources. The presented artists share the desire to rewrite the definition of the comic as a medium and try to connect it with graphics, painting and illustration.
As part of the project, comic artists Jakob Klemenčič (Slovenia), Titus Ackermann (Germany) and Karin Nagao (Japan/Germany) will design a comic about the European Capital of Culture Maribor 2012 and hand it out to the visitors.
Free entry.
