Pamper your senses in the old city center on August 24-25!
In the old city center, amidst scenes of historical town houses and at the foot of Lendava's
picturesque vineyards, the biggest Bograch cooking competition in Slovenia has been
organized for more than a decade. The event is actually a culinary festival, where, besides the
traditional vineyard dish, bograch, cooked in small kettles on the main street, other delicious
home-made dishes such as round braided yeast pretzels, strudel and pork crackling biscuits are
served. Aside from this diverse cuisine, we must not forget the winemakers' pride in the stream
of wine that sparkles in the glasses of the Bogracfest's visitors.
Bograch (Bograc) is a local culinary dish which was prepared by our ancestors, farmers,
shepherds and vintners, and is served at numerous social events. Cooking it in the natural
environment of a hearth is an interesting social occurrence in our region. The city and the
Municipality of Lendava were declared Bograch Capital of the World by ordinance, which has
its official symbols: a plaque on the City Hall building and a book of sponsors and supporters.
