This will be the first public presentation of a selection from the collection of manuscripts, acquired by the Maribor University Library in the first half of the previous century. The selection features texts of regional provenience, whose contents feature and describe the broad cultural component of the region. By staging the exhibition, the library wishes to stress the richness of local culture by means of content-based (linguistics, literary criticism, historical processing) and visual (digitalization, exhibition, publishing of a publication) presentations of the hidden treasures. One of the highlights of the exhibition is undoubtedly LIBRI SENTENTIARUM by Petrus Lombardus, a facsimile of Lombardus’s 12th century manuscript, which dates back into the 14th century and could symbolically be considered as the first Maribor scientific textbook. The project will also highlight various stages of the exhibition, culminating in an exhibition of treasures from the Maribor University Library vault, featuring a projection of exhibited manuscripts and rarities in digital form. The exhibition runs from 28.11 until 31.12.2012 and will be open to visitors between 8 o’clock and 21 o’clock on workdays and between 9 o’clock and 13 o’clock on Saturdays.
