Town of Goga (Vesna Vuk Godina)

An evening with the female enfant terrible of the Slovene academic sphere, who is always more than willing to offer harsh critique to Slovene parenthood. Believe or not, the damages caused by Slovene parenthood are more than evident in Slovene everyday life, as the once so storied permissive education is slowly but surely becoming the direct opposite of common sense, much needed in this hectic world. Unfortunately, this world is all we have, so it is imperative to live a life of moderation. Children have become spoiled rotten, the relationship between man and woman is all but non-existent, our urges are satisfied by consumerism, children are side-lined to computers or forced to attend various activities, all under the false pretence of education, the state is run by … well, you know who.
With a sharp mind and elaborate explanation, Vesna Vuk Godina draws strings from the past, adds anthropological truths on man and woman and lays bare the bones of the modern world. Everything begins and ends – with the quest for happiness. Ideals. Archetypes. Yet the quest for the Holy Grail in all aspects of life can quickly mean the demise of man. And unimaginable profits for large corporations!
The discussion will be hosted by Nina Štampohar.
