The people of Butale are of noble descent. Butale itself is noble. Butale has everything and everything is nobler than in Tepanje; in fact, Butale is only a step away from absolute perfection. The Butale fire-fighting squad is absurdly better from other squads. Butale is the home of fire-fighting discipline, obedience and courage and the fire-fighting squad is often the pride of not only celebrations but also the spiritual life and progress of the entire village. The Butale police squad is dreaded by all; even the policeman is sometimes frightened by it. The most frightened of all is Cefizelj, the dreaded bandit, who supposedly smothered seven people and three women. He does get apprehended from time to time, but is always released. Why, if he weren’t released, the next bandit, God forbid, could be much worse than him. The blessing of Butale is tremendous! Goodness abounds and manure is a-plenty, their corn bread is excellent and sun and rain can always be counted on, as can be flies in the summer. They live in paradise; the only thing missing is a bit of common sense.
