In 2012, Maribor will host an exceptional and leading personality from a certain international field, ranging from all kinds of arts to philosophy. The common criterion is that all guests must be leading international representatives in their fields, and that they create an interesting aspect of the future for the event. The discussion is simultaneously interpreted into Slovene. Garry Kasparov, born in 1963, is a chess master and multiple chess world champion, having won titles from 1985 to 1993. His first match against Anatoly Karpov (from September 1984 to February 1985) is still considered the longest in the history of chess. With the match stopped after 48 games and continued six months later, Kasparov finally managed to overcome his opponent and become the youngest chess world champion in history. Kasparov managed to retain his title in rematches with Karpov in 1986, 1987 and 1990. In 1993, Kasparov discontinued his collaboration with FIDE and founded the Professional Chess Association, winning the title under its realm. Kasparov ended his professional career 2005 and turned to politics and writing about chess.
