The “Europe in a Museum, a Museum in Europe” exhibitions encourage European museum collections and artefacts to become more mobile. It also showcases the Maribor Regional Museum as an heir of European tradition. To the collection of furniture, paintings, sculptures, and clothing from the sixteenth century to the present will be added new pieces from renowned European museums. By doing so, we aim to emphasise our shared European identity and introduce Styrian cultural heritage to Europe. From early October to late December 2012, the extensive collection of the museum will gain the addition of several renowned European works of fine and applied arts. The exhibition will feature four sections (furniture, painting, sculpture, and clothing) and will ensure Maribor’s place as a world cultural heritage town. The exhibition will be accompanied by lectures from Slovenian experts as well as experts from abroad. The Maribor Regional Museum will invite sculptors, painters, joiners, and designers who will shed light on Maribor as the world of art sees it over 100 years.

Between November 7th and 27th, 2012, sculptures of brothers Straub will be temporarily exhibited in the Regional Museum Maribor. Brothers Joseph, Philipp Jakob, and Johann Baptist come from one of the most important sculpting family in Central Europe from the Baroque period. The exhibition is prepared in collaboration with the Bavarian National Museum in Munich. Alongside the exhibition, two lectures will be organised.

Opening Hours: daily: 9:00-13:00 and 16:00-20:00; CLOSED ON NATIONAL HOLIDAYS
