In 1992, a wonderful project took place in Rio de Janeiro. Thirty world-renowned graphic designers were invited to Brazil to create art pieces promoting common safety of mankind and to raise awareness of global issues. The event resulted in numerous poster designs under the motto “30 Posters on Environment and Development”, which were later displayed at numerous exhibitions. The exhibition, held during the Rio-92 event, took place simultaneously at the Modern Art Museum of Rio de Janeiro, as well as in all the state capitals of Brazil, 25 cities around the world and UN’s headquarter offices in New York and Geneva.
"When news first broke about Rio de Janeiro hosting the 2012 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development – Rio+20, I immediately thought of reediting the experience of the event 30 Posters on Environment and Development, a project I did twenty years ago for the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development – Rio-92. I invited 30 of the greatest designers of our time from all over the world, and they all accepted the challenge of participating in the Glob-All Mix – 30 Posters for a Sustainable World. The result, once again, is spectacular. The complete collection of 30 posters will be the Brazilian Government’s official gift to all the heads of state and delegations participating in the conferences in Rio de Janeiro. In addition, the posters will be simultaneously exhibited in Rio de Janeiro and in several other countries – with the support of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs – reminding the world that humanity can be viable."
