Above Gozd Martuljek, on the woody slopes of the Karavanke Mountains, good 200 m above the Sava Dolinka Valley, a grassy plain opens up with some scattered farms of Srednji Vrh. Glaciers created this shelf which offers one of the most breathtaking views over Slovenian mountains, the Martuljek and the Špik Mountains group.
Starting off in Kranjska Gora, follow the cycling track to Gozd Martuljek. Turn left and follow a narrow asphalted road that hardly allows two cars to meet. Ascend towards Srednji Vrh. Sharp bends lead uphill on a very steep slope. Down in the depth, you can hear a waterfall noise of the Jerman stream which flows from Železnica down the valley, passing Srednji Vrh, into the Sava River.
After a steep climb up, you are rewarded with wonderful views over the Mountains group rising towards the sky on the other side of the valley. For this spectacular view, you should choose a clear and sunny day for this trip. Thus, you can enjoy the mountain scenery in all its beauty.
If the ascend was not challenging enough, climb up on to the Jurež farmhouse which lies on a secluded spot at the end of the cart track.
Take the same track when returning.
