The main event in Kozjanski Regional Park - organised every year on the second weekend in October - is an opportunity for the people living in the protected area to promote and market products produced and processed in an ecological manner. Old apple varieties, fruit juice, brandy, honey, pumpkin seed oil, bread, flour and specialities made from fruit are some of the delicacies on offer at the fair. Carvers, blacksmiths, potters, wicker workers, spinners, glass engravers and other craft workers present the products of cottage industries that have almost disappeared.
The fair also features a rich cultural programme, competitions, children's workshops, fruit processing demonstrations and apple-related exhibitions.
During the week before the fair, there are other events - a conference, exhibitions, presentations of the natural and cultural heritage...
Every year there are more people become involved - as organisers, providers and guests.
The Kozjansko Apple Festival is and will remain a unque ethnological and ecological event.
The event promotes apples, apple trees, and grassland orchards - with the aim of preserving, revitalising and restoring them, whilst being environmentally friendly.
