The Košenjak–Velka Regional Park covers some of the most picturesque and naturalistically interesting countryside in the Dravograd area. It begins just above the town near the Old castle and crosses Goriški vrh and Ojstrice stretching all the way to Košenjak. In the east it reaches to Kozji vrh, and descends through the beautiful valley of the Velka River all the way to the Drava River. Košenjak, the highest point in the municipality (1522 m), joins the more than 2000 meter high Golica in the north. The proximity of the central Alps gives the area's flora and fauna distinct characteristics, which indicate the high alpine influence.
