The London Information Office started operations in January 2010, and occupies premises in the Slovenian Embassy in the UK. The main purpose of the office is to establish more solid contact between Slovenia’s tourist services and the British and Irish markets. The office ascribes major importance to establishing more tangible contact with end users (B2C) and the media chiefly through the use of modern IT and communication systems. Equally, it ascribes great importance to relations with established and potential business partners, and with all those interested in cooperating in the field of tourism in Slovenia. Since the office functions in close connection with the Embassy, it tries to merge the interests of Slovenia as a country with Slovenia as a tourist destination within the framework of several joint projects, which relate primarily to the actual promotion of Slovenia.
The office is open to the public Monday to Wednesday, 10am – 2pm, and also provides continuous information to the public about Slovenia’s tourist services on the contact number 0870 225 53 05 and via e-mail. Another of the office’s tasks is distributing promotional material within the UK and Ireland.
Its mere operation as an information point between the parent organisation (SPIRIT Slovenia) and the tourist industry on the one hand and all interested parties in the British and Irish markets on the other facilitates the more solid and stable presence of Slovenia in one of the biggest emittive markets in the world, and contributes to the greater recognisability of and greater interest in Slovenia.
