The foreign relations section covers communication with foreign media, and also manages a photo archive. For foreign journalists who show an interest in Slovenia, it organises study trips that enable them to experience things they can present to individual target audiences in foreign electronic and printed media. In this way it attempts to present and improve the standing of Slovenia as a tourist destination and to strengthen its recognisability. Via e-mail updates the department familiarises foreign journalists each month with new developments in Slovenia’s tourist services, passwords are allocated for the use of photos of Slovenia and answers and information are provided in response to questions from foreign journalists about the attractions and tourist facilities of Slovenia. At major general fairs and business exchanges and other important events abroad, the department organises press conferences, receptions and social gatherings for representatives of the media and business partners.
The marketing section deals primarily with the preparation, implementation and monitoring of marketing strategies, media advertising plans and individual promotional activities to promote Slovenia as a tourist destination, with the aim of enhancing the country’s recognisability, both for business circles and the general public in selected markets, in line with the annual Work Programme.
