St. Cross's Church has been built on a partially artificial terrace at the southern foothills of a steep Castle Hill (Grajski hrib) on top of which a mighty castle has dominated the sky-line for centuries. The unique location gives visitors superb views of some parts of Sopota Valley and especially of the beautiful village Svibno just below the church. First accounts related to the ownership of the church stem back to the 12th century, when the church was owned by the Lords of Svibno.
The originally 15th century gothic church tower is separated from the parish church itself and is actually built into a wall, encircling the church and a cemetery. The high altar originates from the 18th century baroque period.
The parish church and its cemetery are regarded to be priceless reminders of a glorious past of Svibno and its Lords.
