The Vojskarska planota is a broad and fragmented plain located at an altitude of around 1000 m above sea level and stretches across some 3600 hectares of land, its circumference measuring over 10 km. As the karst part of the Idrijan hills, it extends high above the Idrijca, Kanomljica and Trebuša Valleys. During summer months the pristinely natural, serene, and idyllic landscape fanned by fresh air dresses itself in a vivid and variegated carpet of grasses and exceptionally rich flora. Side by side, meadows, pastures, and mixed forests extend in perfect harmony. The core oh the settlement has developed at Planina (1077m), around the church below the hill Školj (1129m).
The main festivals and tourist attractions: the excellent belvedere Hudournik (1148m), ravine Gačnik with its numerous waterfalls, hollows, rapids, canyons; Snežna jama (karst cave), “Slovenija¨ Partisan Printery. The village’s holiday falls on 23 June, and is a commemoration of the day when Italians burnt down the whole settlement in 1943. Vojsko’s inhabitants’ alos solemnly celebrate Jacob’s Sunday (St. Jacob’s Day on 25 July).
