The tour takes you from Ptuj to the jewel of Slovene Gothic, the Church of Mary on Ptujska Gora, and then through Majšperk and Rogatec with its open-air-museum to Žetale. On the Haloze Wine Road, drive to Podlehnik, Videm, and Leskovec making stops at the tourist farms that breed sheep and goats. Several farms are included in the Halonga Tourist Village. The Wine Road leads on to Cirkulane, where you can visit the Church of Sv. Barbara and buy souvenirs. Then visit 11th-century Borl Castle and continue on to Zavrč, stopping at tourist farms to sample Haloze delicacies from the open oven such as homemade bread, “haloška gibanica,” and “oprešak.” Visit at least one of Haloze’s numerous wine cellars along the road and try first-class Haloze white wines such as Laški Rizling, Renski Rizling, Traminec, Muškat Otonel, Rumeni Muškat, Sivi Pinot, Beli Pinot, Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and other varieties.
