An exhibition place in the Coal Mining Museum of Slovenia seems to be ideal for large paintings of the group Laibach. The ambient is completely different from the white cube gallery, and is full of memories of coal mining work, which is one of the original elements of Laibach’s images. The exhibition spaces are in fact former dressing room and washroom of the mine; the place where miners changed, before descending into the mine and later returning to the surface. A large painting by Laibach Kunst created in recent years is showing images of a black cross and the Zasavje industrial-mining red district. They are a magnification of black and white wood engravings from the first years of their existence, which were among the first art creations of Laibach in the beginning of 1980s. The images have remained the same it is only their format that changed in much the same way as the social context did.
