Podvelka is an interesting settlement situated on the right bank of the Drava River. The town was once merely the home of timber workers, who prepared floating timber for sale. It became more important when the railway station was built and they started to transport Pohor granite, timber and wood products. The town is known for a variety of events and sports activities that are held here. The neighbouring, uninhabited, steep slopes are today bliss for visitors who love peace, the freshness of nature and clean forest air. It is just as beautiful on Janževski vrh, Javnik and Lehen na Pohorju. For tourists, the most popular activities are a raft ride on the Drava River and a visit to the church of St.John on Janževski vrh (summit), where there is exceptionally strong positive energy, which heals.
